Supposedly it is a Bourbon mutation or hybrid variety but its' origin is unknown and flavor profile a bit surprising. \u003cspan\u003eWe found hints of bright Ethiopian-like notes in here unlike your average Bourbon.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis natural Marshell is grown and processed by Salomon Estela at El Morito in Peru. It presents juicy watermelon and fresh raspberry in the aroma and follows through with even more raspberry followed by key lime on the palate. It finishes surprisingly bright and structured for a natural process. There's also perfumed white florals throughout making it more refined and elegant. We've noticed that many Gesha examples from Peru have more complex florals than Gesha grown elsewhere. The Peruvian terroir combined with the Gesha variety seems to modulate the classic Gesha jasmine florals into more complex pink or purple florals like cherry blossom, rose, lychee or lilac.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThis particular Gesha is a clean washed one by Ronal Carranza at his farm \"Guardian del Bosque\". In the aroma we find a notable creamy lilac note along with some sweet yellow stone fruit like mango, and dried rose petals. The taste follows with similar notes but with more acidity than presented on the aroma. Leonardo and his brother Felipe won the 2020 Colombia cup of excellence with their Chiroso! It's not particularly surprising to see how they managed that when you taste how meticulously processed this coffee is. It captures some of the enhanced fruit flavors that a well executed Kenya-style washing process brings without the funk that is often found in other Colombian coffees with extra fermentation steps.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn the aroma we find notable amounts of white peach followed by zesty citrus like blood orange and bergamot, along with herbal leaning florals like chrysanthemum and violet. On the taste, the peach hits up front, quickly turns into a creamy sweet citrus note like orange sherbet, and ends with an interesting herbal chrysanthemum tea finish.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe do find a little bit of fade flavor in this green so it will have a discounted price on what was otherwise a moderately pricey Gesha.
